Japanese cargo ship (ex-War Simoon 1919-9119, Dibble Bridge 1919-1921, Tunisia 1921-1926, Akashi Maru 1926-1938) Akasi Maru 1938-1943

Call sign JHVB. Gross register tonnage 3,228, under deck 2,857 tons, net tonnage 1,958 tons and as dimensions 231.2 x 46.8 x 23.2. Speed 11.5 knots. Reciprocating coal fuelled 429 nhp propulsion with a range of 9,600 miles. Completed by Irvine’s S.B.&D.D. Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool in October 1919. Owner in 1939 Shimatan Kisen K.K., Kobe, Japan. World War I C-class standard cargo ship. Sunk by the American submarine USS Bluefish (SS-222) north of Wetai, Dutch East Indies on 29 September 1943.
