Japanese destroyer Hatsuhare 1931-1944

Shiratsuyu-class

Part of Hatsuharu-class-class destroyers, preceded by Akutsiki-class succeeded by Shiratsuyu-class. Consisted of Hatshuhare, Nenohi, Wakaba, Hatsushimo, Ariake and Yugure. Building ordered under Fiscal Year. Laid down by Sassebo Naval Arsenal on 14 May 1931, launched on 27 Februray 1933, completed on 30 September 1933 and lost during an Allied air attack on Manila Bay, Philippines 13 November 1944.

General technical characteristiscs when initally completed. Displacement 1,530 tons and as dimensions 103.5 (between perpendiculars)-105.5 (waterline)-109.5 (over all) x 10 x 3.38 metres or 340-346-359.3 x 32.10 x 11.1 feet. Propulsion consisted of 2 Kampon geared steam turbines and 3 water tube boilers supplying 42,000 shp via 2 shafts allowing a speed of 36 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles/14 knots. Crew numbered 212 men. Armament consisted of 2x2&1x1 12.7cm 40 cal Type 3 naval guns, 2x1-4cm anti aircraft guns, 2x3-61cm/24” torpedo tubes and 18 depth charges.
