An item reported that when the director of the Tunisian Office National de Peche visited in July 1959 Italy he arranged the purchase of two second-hand trawlers and concluded furthermore final construction details on four new trawlers built by Italy for Tunisia under an US aid program. Two were to be delivered in Febuary 1960, the other two a month later. Tunisian fishing industries had concurrency from Portuguese, Japanese, Moroccan and Spanish fishermen.
