An item reported that in 1964 a contract was signed between Senegal and the USSR in which the first country got a loan of 6,7 million US dollars against 2.5% annually to be repaid in Senegalese products within 12 years. With the loan and technical support was a tuna cannery to be established. During a period of 2 years Soviet technicians would operate the cannery while Senegalese technicians were trained in the Soviet Union. Further more would the latter deliver 10 tuna vessels.
