Soviet whaling activities shifted to the Bering Sea according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated November 1964 No. 11

An item reported that the Soviet whaling activities were in August shifted to the Bering Sea. One fleet was active east of the Pribilof Islands, a second one mostly south and west of the Pribilof Islands and a third one along the Aleutian Chain. It was believed that 1964 was the first time that the Soviet Union was commercially exploiting the eastern Bering Sea as regards whaling.
