Icelandic shipyards building own fishing vessels according to the Commercial Fisheries Review dated July 1968 No. 7

An item reported that in the past steel hulled vessels for the Icelandic fishery were nearly built abroad, for example the Norwegian shipyard Kaarbos Mekaniska Verstek recently launched a 12 vessel and immediaterly begun with number 13. The Icelandic shipbuilding industry however lauched recently 2 steel-hulled vessels with a total gross tonnage of over 360 tons. Further morce planned the Akureyi shipyard to built 2 coastal vessels which normally with that size were built abroad.
