Japanese cargo ship (ex-Asaka Maru No. 2 1917-1933, Nichiman Maru 1934-1937) Nitiman Maru 1938-1944

Call sign JQDE. Built by GK Harada Shoko, Osaka, Japan in 1917. Sunk by the American submarine USS Spadefish (SS-411) on 8 September 1944. Gross tonnage 1,922 tons, under deck 1,399 tons, net tonnage 1,131 tons, deadweight 2,794 tons and as dimensions 250.0 x 37.7 x 20.5 x 6.5 (light)-18.7 (loaded) feet. Single screw, reciprocating propulsion, speed 9 (normal cruising)-10.5 (maximum) knots, coal bunker capacity 355 tons and range 4,800 miles/9 knots.
