An item reported that the US cabinet required the passenger ships Rio Hudson, Rio Parana, Rio de la Plata and Rio de Janeiro under construction for shipping company McCormick and after conversion to be used by the US Navy. The ships were originally to be used on the line USA-East coast of South America. Earlier required the US Navy six new cargo ships of the same company.
