Call sign JSNA. Launched with yard number755 by Palmers&Co. Ltd., Hebburn shipyard, Newcastle, England on 22 July 1902, completed in September 1902 for the Archibald Currie&Co. Pty. Ltd., Melbourne, Australia for the India-Australia line and serving as a transport torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Spadefish on 170 miles east of Wei-hai-wei. Gross tonnage 3,925 tons, under deck 3,458 tons, net tonnage 2,408 tons, deadweight 5,504 tons and as dimensions 360.7 x 48.8 x 24.6 x 10.3 (light)-22.8 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, 483 nhp, single screw, coal bunker capacity 1,235 tons.
