Ex-Taishin Maru renamed 1938. Sunk by an American submarine on 5 February 1944 on the position 13.09 north and 120.24 east. Call sign JDMA. Built by Mitsubishi Zosensho, Kobe, Japan in 1918. Gross tonnage 1,723 tons, under decl 1,278 tons, net tonnage 1,00t tons deadweight 2,650 tons and as dimensions 250.0 x 37.7 x 20.5 x 6.6 (light)-18.6 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 138 nhp, coal bunker capacity 228 tons, range 3,500 miles/9 knots and speed 9 (normal cruising)-10.5 (maximum) knots.
