Japanese cargo ship (ex-Alto 1902-1923, Elva Seed 1923-1924, Niitiga Maru 1924-1934) Hikosan Maru 1934-1945

Call sign JSCB. Launched by S.P. Austin&Son, Sunderland, United Kingdom with yard number 219 on 24 May 1902, completed in August 1902, commissioned in the British Royal Navy as a collier on 20 August 1914 until 1918 when returned to owners and sunk in an American air attack on 22 January 1945. Gross tonnage 2,073 tons, under deck 1,915 tons, net tonnage 1,253 tons, deadweight 3,350 tons and as dimensions 289.0 x 43.1 x 18.7 x 7 (light)-18.3 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 215 nhp, coal bunker capacity 429 ton, range 4,900 nautical miles/8.5 knots and speed 8.5 (normal cruising)-10 (maximum) knots.
