Japanese passenger-cargo ship Hitati Maru or Hitachi Maru 1938-1943

Laid down by Osaka Iron Works Ld., Innoshima in 1938, launched on 6 Feburary 1939, completed on 15 June 1939, requisitioned by the navy on 26 November 1941, converted 3 December 1941-28 December 1941 into an ammunition ship, damaged in an Allied air attack on Buin and sunk on 14 February 1943 and stricken on 1 July 1943. Gross tonnage 6,550 tons and as dimensions 419.9 x 57.4 x 34.4 x 9.6 (light)-27.6 loaded) feet. Steam turbine propulsion, 517 nhp and range 10,000 nautical miles/cruising speed (>12 knots).
