Japanese passenger-cargo ship Turuga Maru 1916-1942

Call sign JPAD. Laid down by Mitsubishi Dockyard&Engineering Works, Nagasaki with yard number 250 on 8 March 1916, launched on 28 April 1916, delivered on 15 June 1916, as No. 304 in service of the Army between 15 August 1936-30 March 1938 and since 21 July 1941 again and torpedoed and sunk by the Dutch submarine Hr.Ms. KXVIII during the invasion at Balikpapan, Dutch Borneo. Gross tonnage 6,988 tons, under deck 6,468 tons, net tonnage 4,284 tons and dimensions 445.0 x 58.0 x 34.0 x 9 (light)-27 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion. Fitted out for deep tanks for carrying oil in bulk.
