Japanese cargo ship (ex-Shinsei Maru 1916-1938) Sinsei Maru 1938-1945

Call sign JEFD. Laid down by Uraga Dock Co. Ltd., Uraga, Japan on 5 October 1916, launched on 10 March 1917, completed on 30 April 1917, requisitioned by the Army in 1937, became Army transport No. 358, damaged in an air attack on 7 January 1945, sunk next day and stricken on 5 Feburary 1945. Gross tonnage 4,740 tons, under deck 4,029 tons, net tonnage 3,403 tons and as dimensions 36.0 x 51.0 x 28.4 x 8 (light)-23 (loaded feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 358 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,700 tons, and a range of 15,000 nautical miles/10 knots.
