Japanese cargo ship Macassar Maru/Makassar Maru 1920-1944

Call sign JNVD. Laid down by Mitsubishi Zosen Kaisha Ld., Kobe, Japan on 18 August 1920, launched on 27 November 1920, completed on 24 December 1920, requisitioned by the army and became No. 196 on 11 October 1941 and torpedoed and sunk by American submarine uSS Aspro (SS-309) on 7 October 1944. Gross tonnage 4.026 tons, under deck 3,476 tons, net tonnage 2,519 tons and as dimensions 345.0 x 50.0 x 29.0 x 7.5 (light)-24 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, 342 nhp, 1,100 tons coal bunker capacity, range 9,800 nautical miles/13 knots and speed 10 (normal cruising)-1.5 (maximum) knots.
