Japanese passenger-cargo ship (ex-Tajima Maru 1915-1938) Tazima Maru 1938-1944

Call sign JPJD. Laid down on Built by Kawasaki Dockyard Co. Ltd., Kobe, Japan on 6 August 1915, launched on 7 February 1916, completed on 15 April 1916, renamed Tazima Maru in 1938, requisitioned by the army on 23 September 1941 and became the Army No. 894 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Gurnard (SS-254) in the North Celebes Sea on 6 May 1944. Gross tonnage 6,995 tons, under deck 6,447 tons, net tonnage 4,273 tons and dimensions 445.0 x 58.0 x 34.0 x 9 (light)-27 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion. Fitted out for deep tanks for carrying oil in bulk.
