Japanese passenger-cargo ship Malta Maru 1919-1944

Call sign JMTD. Laid down by Asano Shipbuilding Co., Tsurumi, Japan with yard number 13 on 10 June 1919, launched on 29 September 1919, completed on 30 October 1919, chartered by the army as troop transport annex cargo ship assigned army No. 913 in 1943 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Pogy (SS-266) on 10 Feburary 1944. Gross tonnage 5,500 tons, under deck 4,988 tons, net tonnage 3,466 tons and as dimensions 400.000 x 523. x 29,4 x 8 (light)-25.6 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, speed 10 (normal cruising)-12 (maximum) knots, 513 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,726 tons, range 12,000 nautical miles/10 knots, single crew.
