De Schelde, Vlissingen, Netherlands with yard number 85 on the south slip 27 November 1895, in the frames on 12 November 1896, plated on 31 December 1896, launched at 15.00 o’clock on Saturday 20 March 1897, docked in Middelburg, Netherlands in 1897, technical trial 19 December 1897-17 January 1898, returning with a broken steering gear, again technical trial 31 March-5 April 1898 off Den Helder, Netherlands, official trial on 4 April 1898, delivered on 1 June 1898, departed for the first voyage on 18 June 1898, arrived at the shipyard at Vlissingen for repairs of her engines on 18 January 1904, docked between 17 March-21 April 1904 in the dock at Middelburg, back tot the roads of Vlissingen on 5 October 1904, fitted out with new Yarrow water tube boilers Nrs, 68-75, decommissioned in 1924 and finally sold for ƒ 136.749,29 on 27 August 1924 on a public auction to be broken up. Supervisors during the building were the naval engineers J. lt Hooft until 1 May 1896 and since then J.L.K. van Waveren. Head engineer of the shipyard was J. Janszen jr.
