German sailing cargo ship (Peking 1911-1932, Arethuse II 1932-1940, Pekin 1940-1945, Arethusa 1945-1975) Peking 1975-

Steel-hulled 4-mast barque. Active in the nitrate and wheat shipping. Also known as a Flying-P liner owned by F. Laiesz, Hamburg, Germany. Launched by Blohm&Voss, Steinwerder, Hamburg with yardnumber 295 on 25 February 1911, completed in May 1911, interned at Valparaiso, Chile during the First World War until 1920, handed over as war reparations to italy after the war ended but sold back to her original owners in January 1923, sold towards England in 1932, renamed Arethusa II, during the Second World War serving within the Royal Navy as HMS Pekin, museumship retaining her original in the USA since 1974, returned to Germany in 2017.
