United Kingdom-flagged, homeport Portsmouth, IMO 4907907. Preceded by the Invincible-class. Part of Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, designed to operate as STOVL aircraft carrier, to be fitted out with 48 F-35B Lightning II stealth multirole fighters and Merlin helicopters. Building ordered on 20 May 2008, construction started with frst steel cutting at the Govan Shipyard on 26 May 2011, assembled at Rosyth out of the 52 blocks built by 6 separate British shipyards, christened on 8 September 2017, launched by Aircraft Carrier Alliance on 21 December 2017, sea trials started in September 2019 and commissioned on 10 December 2019.
