Chinese sloop (ex-Uji 1940-1945, ex-Chang Chi 1945-1949) Nan Chang 1949-1980s

Appearance 1950s. Of the gunboat type. Building ordered on 1937, laid down on 20 January 1940, Launched at Sakurajima Works, Osaka, Japan on 25 or 29 September 1940, completed on 30 April 1941, Captured by Chinese on 13 September 1945, renamed Chang Zhi, in hands of Communist China on 19 September 1949, renamed Nan Chang in 1949-1950, rearmed 1955and broken up in the 1980s.

Displacement 1,009-1,206 (around 1958) tons and as dimensions 249 1/2 (between perpendiculars)-257.5 (waterline)-264 (over all) z 31 5/6 x 8 2/3 feet. Armament around 1958 2-9.9cm/3.9 guns, “2-7.6cm/3” guns and 4-2cm anti aircraft guns. Propulsion consisted of 2 turbines, 4,600 shp horsepower, speed 20.15 knots and range 3,460 miles/14 knots. Crew numbered 170 men.
