Japanese submarines attacking merchant shipping in the Bay of Bengal according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 4 April 1942

An item reported that enemy submarines torpedoed two British ships, one 450 miles northwest of Bombay, India on the location latitude 160 degrees north-longitude 68.30 degrees east) and the other 1,000 miles southsouthwest of Ceylon position latitude 15 degrees south-longitude 78.30 east.
