British Mediterranean Fleet and bases threatened by Axis powers according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 December 1941

An item referred to J.I.C. comments that regarded the large numbers of German aircraft (2nd Air Fleet) stationed on Italian bases a combined air-naval ‘all out’ attack on the British Mediterranean Fleet and her bases at Malta at Alexandria, Egypt was a hypothetical possibility.(1)

Note

1. Malta was sieged between 11 June 1940-20 November 1942 by Italian-German forces.
