Chinese frigate/corvette (ex-No. 194 1944-1947, Chieh 6 1947-, Wei Hai -1949) Chi Nan 1949-1960s

Laid down by Mitsubishi, Nagasaki on 18 December 1944, launched on 15 February 1945, completed on 15 March 1945, surrendered in August 1945, used for repatriation until 1947, handed to China as Chieh 6 on 6 July 1947. Ex-Japanese no. 194 and Chinese Wei Hai and Chieh 6. Former Japanese Type D or Kaibokan-class No. 2 type. Displacement 900 tons and as dimensions 213.25 (between perpendiculars)-223 (waterline)-228 (over all) x 28.25 x 10 feet.

Armament consists of 2-3.9” or 4.7” guns3-3” guns or 3 or 6-37mm anti aircraft guns; 4-25mm or 3-20mm anti aircraft guns. 120 Depth charges. One steam turbine, horsepower 2,500 shp, speed 17.5 knots, range 4,500 miles/14 knots. Crew numbers 160 men.
