German submarine U-18 under repair at Kiel, Germany in March 1937

American naval attaché at Berlin, Germany reported on 30 March 1937 that he recently passed the waterfront of the Krupp Germaniawerft at Kiel, Germany. The U-18 (1) was sighted on a floating drydock and apparently fairly well along to be completely repaired. When she was recommissioned included the six at Kiel under construction would the German navy number 40 submarines.
