Part of Trento-class succeeded by Zara-class based on a design made by general Filippo Bonfiglietti in 1923 and building ordered as response onf the laying down of the first French Duquesne-class cruiser. Laid down by Cantiere navale fratelli Orlando, Livorno n 8 February 1925, launched on 4 October 1927, commissioned on 3 April 1929, sunk by a Bristol Beaufort torpedo bomber and the British submarine HMS Umbra on 15 June 1942 and stricken on 18 October 1946.
