Japanese aircraft carrier sighted at Rabaul according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 13 April 1942

An item reported that Allied planes attacked shipping in the harbour of Rabaul, New Guinea and two nearby airfields. In the harbour were to ships including an aircraft carrier (1) and 3 transports sighted.

1. The Hōshō, succeededed by Akagi, laid down by Asano Shipbuilding Company, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama on 16 December 1920, launched on 13 November 1921, commissioned on 27 December 1922, stricken on 5 October 1945 and breaking up started on 2 September 1946?
