Vichy France negotiating with Japan for transfer merchant ships according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 27 December 1941

An item referred to CINC Singapore reporting that the Indo-China government negotiated with Japan for dispatching of 2-3 French merchant ships to transport troops to sent from Indo-China to capture Tahiti, French Polynesia. Impossible to do so by Vichy France was such attack by Japan or together with Vichy France against Free French territories a possibility. The news was valued as possible rumors.
