Japanese invasion force underway to Singapore according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 23 December 1941

An item referred to the N/A Singapore reporting that the British naval staff thought that 5,000 Japanese military were underway from Tongking,, French Indochina to Singora, Thailand which was the base of the Japanese operations on the west coast of Malaya. Fully loaded transports were reported to have been sunk on 19 December off Quin-Hon Point, 400 miles north of Saigon.
