Nanko Maru, Saiho Maru, Toho Maru and similar Ryusei Maru and Nansin Maru. Call sign JXDM. Laid down by Tyne Ieon Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Newcastle, England with yard number 177 for account of Fred Olsen, Oslo, Norway in end 1910, launched on 14 February 1911, ompleted in March 1911 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Rasher (SS-269) underway from Surabaya to Ambon, Dutch East Indies on 25 February 1944. Gross tonnage 4,497 tons and as dimensions 385.0 x 52.0 x 27.6 x 7.6 (light)-24 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 489 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,850 tons, speed 12 knots (maximum) and range 13,000 nautical miles/10 knots.
