Japanese seaplanes sighted around Kapingamaranei Island according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 December 1941

An item referred to the Australian Naval Board reporting that during reconnaisance of flights enemy seaplanes were sighted patrolling around the Kapingamaranei (Greenwich Island, nowadays Kapingamarangi, Pohnpei State, Caroline Islands, Federates States of Micronesia). Australian aircraft flew over the island on 18 December. Possible was a Japanese seaplane carrier active between Kapingamaranei and Nissan (Solomon Group).
