An item reported that a Trans-Atlantic convoy numbering 41 ships was attacked in the night of 2-3 August southeast of Cape Race and one ship was torpedoed. The J.I.C. commented that only westbound Trans-Atlantic convoys to the eastward or southward of Newfoundland were attacked and not one eastbound convoy, the reason was unknown.
