Laid down as escort carrier USS Jamaica by Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corporation on 13 November 1942, launched on 21 April 1943, transferred to the UK on 27 September 1943, commissioned as the Ruler-class escort carrier HMS Shah D21. decommissioned on 7 February 1946, handed over to the USA on 26 November 1945, sold to Argentina and renamed Salta on 20 June 1947 and broken up in 1966. Converted into a merchant ship by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Norfolk, Virginia
