Sister ships Arimasan Maru-Asakan Maru-Atutasan Maru. Call sign JYKL. Homeport Kobe. Ordered on 1 January 1935, built by Tama Zosen Sh K.K., Tama, Japan in January 1937, requisitioned by the army, became an air defence ship (a Boku-Kikansen) and torpedoed by the American submarine USS Swordfish on 16 December 1944. Gross tonnage 8,663 tons, netto tonnage 5,254 tons and as dimensions 455.1 x 62.0 x 39.5 x 12 (light)-21 (loaded) feet. Diesel propulsion, single screw, horsepower 1,239 nhp-7,600 bhp-8,500 ihp, oil bunker capacity 3,948 tons including deep tanks, range 4,700 nautical miles/16 knots and speed 16 (normal cruising/95rpm)-19 (maximum) knots.
