Sister ships Kenzan Maru (1919)-Ryuzan Maru (1920)-Svirstroi (1919). Call sign JSFA. Homeport Kobe, Japan. Launched by Standard S.B. Corp., Shooters Island, New York, USA on 4 December 1919, completed in March 1920, in service of the army, and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Finback in the Java Sea on 30 July 1943. Gross tonnage 4,720 tons, under deck 4,330 tons, netto tonnage 3,419 tons, deadweight 7,249 tons and as dimensions 377.0 x 51.8 x 29.0 x 24 (loaded) feet. Reciproating propulsion, single screw, horsepower 488 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,790 tons, range 13,800 nautical miles/9 knots and speed 9 (normal cruising)-11 (maximum) knots.
