Sister ships Katyosan Maru (1924), Katuragisan Maru (1925), Kasugasan Maru (1925) and Kasagisan Maru (1925). Call sign JKSB. Homeport Kobe, Japan. Laid down by Mitsui Bussan K.K., Tama, Japan on 2 June 1924, launched on 29 December 1924, completed on 10 February 1925, requisitioned by the army on 5 October 1941, converted into troop transport Allotted IJA No. 876 and sunk in an American air attack 24 miles North West of Amami Oshima on 23 March 1945.

Gross tonnage 2,427 tons, under deck 2,035 tons, netto tonnage 1,442 tons and as dimensions 284.5 x 42.0 x 23.3 x 10 (light)-20 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, horsepower 181 nhp, coal bunker capacity 341 tons, range 4,800 nautical miles/10 knots and speed 10 (normal cruising)-12.5 (maximum) knots.
