Sister ships Nati Maru (1926)-Muro Maru (1928), similar Sumire Maru (1928). Call sign JNGH. Homeport Osaka, Japan. Built by Mitsubishi Zosen Kaisha Ld., Kobe, Japan in 1928, sold to Indonesian government in 1952, renamed Bungur in 1954 and sunk in October 1956 off Hong Kong in bad weather while towed from Djakarta, Indonesia to Hong Kong.
Gross tonnage 1,730 tons, under deck 1,078 tons, netto tonnage 816 tons and as dimensions 243.0 x 38.0 x 19.5 x 12 (loaded) feet. Diesel propulsion, two screws, horsepower 386 nhp, oil fuelled and speed 13(normal cruising)-15 (maximum) knots.
