Canadian icebreaker Montcalm offered to the Soviet Union according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 12 December 1941

An item reported that the Canadian icebreaker Montcalm was offered to and accepted by the Soviet Union.(1)

Note

1. Homeport Ottawa, call sign CGSM. Gross tonnage 1,432 tons, under deck 973 tons, net tonnage 586 tons and as dimensions 245.0 x 40.6 x 15.7 feet. Built by Napier&Miller, Glasgow, Scotland in November 1904, arrived at Murmansk, Russia as part of convoy PQ15 on 5 June 1942, renamed Pronchishchev on 11 November 1947, transferred to the navy in August 1954, floating barracks PKZ-61 since 17 September 1954 and stricken to be broken up on 29 April 1957.
