An item reported that the Japanese invaded Amboina Island, Moluccas, Dutch East Indies with a force of 1,000 men supported by aircraft. Earlier was a Japanese convoy consisting of 3 cruisers, 4 destroyers and 4 transports in the vicinity reported. The J.I.C. commented that Amboina was the principal air and naval base in the eastern part of the Dutch East Indies and expected on short notice an attack on the Timor-Flores area.
