An item referred to CinCPAC reporting from Hawaii that there had been no authentic contacts with submarines. Last night opened an enemy submarine with a 5.5” gun fire on Kahululi but without damage. Johnston was apparently attacked by 2 enemy cruisers, there were no casualties but the powerhouse was destroyed.
