Japanese tanker (ex-Yeiyo Maru 1928-1939) Eiyo Maru 1939-1945

Call sign JFAC. Laid down by Yokohama Dock Co. Ld., Yokohama, Japan on 11 October 1928, launched on 19 June 1929, completed on 6 August 1929, requiaitioned by the army assigned number No. 957 on 3 June 1943, returned to owners in end December 1943 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Guavina (SS-362) 12 miles north est of Cape Paderan light house, Indochina [Vietnam] on 20 February 1945. Gross tonnage 8,674 tons, under deck 8,037 tons, netto tonnage 5,102 tons, deadweight 12,630 tons and as dimensions 460.9 x 60.0 x 37.5 x 10.6 (light)-28.6 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, 2 screws, horsepower 95 nhp, oil bunker capacity 2,400 tons, range nautical 16,500 miles/12 knots and speed 13 (normal cruising)-15 (maximum) knots. Oil carrying capacity 85,000 barrels of 42 galleons.
