An item reported that the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii [on 7 December 1941] and other American islands was executed by striking force numbering 6 aircraft carriers [Akagi, Kaga, Sory, Hiryu, Shokaku, Zuikaku], supported by a covering force of 2 battleships [Hiei, Kirishima] and a screening force of 2 heavy cruisers [Chikuma, Tone] and a destroyer squadron. It was believed that at the present the aircraft carriers were widely scattered.
