British cargo ship Chekiang I 1914-1941 (Sekko Maru 1941-1945)

Call sign GKYN. Homeport London, England. Built by Taikoo Dockyard&Engineering Company, Hong Kong with yard number 149 in 1914. requisitioned by M.O.W.T. under the liner requisition scheme, seized by Japane on the Whangpu River on 8 December 1941, renamed Sekko Maru in June 1942 and sunk in an Allied aircraft on Hong Kong on 26 January 1945. Gross tonnage 2,172 tons, under deck 1,967 tons, net tonnage 1,313 tons, deadweight 1,300 tons and as dimensions 285.0 x 44.1 x 19.1 feet. Coal fuelled reciprocating propulsion. Single screw. Horsepower 170 nhp. Owner in 1939 China Navigation Co. Ltd., Hong Kong.
