Proposal for the Tennesse-class preceded by New Mexico-class succeeded by Colorado-class. Displacement 32,000 tons and as dimensions 600 (waterline) x 97.4½ (waterline) x 40.0 feet. Block coefficient .699, longitudinal coefficient .652.

Parsons turbines propulsion with 3 boiler rooms, speed 20.5 knots, cruising radius 10 knots/8,000 nautical miles. Horsepower 20.5 knots speed/ 14,700 ehp.

Armament 4x3-35.6cm/14” 50 cal B.L.R. guns, 22-12.7mc/5” cal 51 quick firing guns, 4-7.6cm/3” cal 50 guns and 6-53.3cm/21” submerged torpedo tubes.

Armour. Main side belt 17.0 (extremede width)-8.6 (depth below waterline) x 13.5, 13.5-8” thicknes. Gun turrets 15”(port)-10-9” (sides)-5” (top)-9” (rear). Fire-control tower 16”. Conning tower tube 6” (light part)-16” (heavy part). Uptake protection 15”-12”9”. Total thickness splinter deck 60# flat 80# slope. Total thickness protective deck 140#.
