French cargo-passenger ship Bernardin de St. Pierre 1924-1942 (Teibi Maru 1942-1943)

Launched by J.C. Tecklenborg AG, Wesermünde on 2 September 1924, maiden voyage begun on 11 November 1926, seized by Japanese at Saigon on 10 April 1942, renamed Teibi Maru on 1 June 1942, torpedoed by American submarine USS Bonefish for the coast of Annam on 10 October 1943 and beached by her captain. Call sign FOAL. Gross tonnage 10,086 tons, netto tonnage 5,616 tons, 7,200tons  deadweight and as dimensions 455.8 x 60.8 x 41.0 x 27 (loaded) feet. Geared steam turbine propulsion, two screws, 6,000 ihp horsepower, oil fuelled, oil bunker capacity 730 tons and speed 13 (normal cruising)-15 (maximum) knots.
