Sister ships Anzan Maru, Hokusei Maru, Izan Maru, Konzan Maru, Seisyo Maru and Tazan Maru. Call sign JLKM. Launched by Columbia River Shipbuilding Corporation, Portland, Oregon, USA with USSB 1693 on 23 May 1919, delivered in June 1919, torpedoed and sunk by American submarine USS Skipjack (Salmon-class) on 17 May 1942. Design 1013. Gross tonnage 5,478 tons, under deck 5,237 tons, netto tonnage 3,970 tons and as dimensions 410.5 x 54.0 x 30.2 x 8 (light)-23 (loaded) feet. Speed 9 (normal cruising)-11 (maximum) knots.
