Range 10 knots/12,000 nautical miles. Horsepower 56,300 ehp/30 knots. Turbine propulsion. Number of boiler rooms 9. Armament 4x2-35.56cm/14” B.L.R. guns, 12-15.4cm/6” quick firing guns, 4-7.62cm/3” anti aircraft guns and 4-53.34cm/21” torpedo tubes. Armour: main side belt 20’(extreme width)-8’6” (depth below waterline)-5” (thickness). Heavy part barbettes 10”. Turrets 12” (port)-8” (sides)-5” (top)-5” (rear). Conning tower proper 12”, heavy part tube 8”. Uptake protection 8”. Splinter deck 2”. Total thickness protective deck 3”.
If a crowning 5” thick deck was fitted for protection of the steering gear was the 35,500 tons increased with anoth around 1,300 tons.
