Japanese navy threatening direct access of Allies to Rangoon, Burma according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 22 January 1942

An item reported that three Japanese steamships were sighted 80 miles south of Moulmein, Burma. Japanese naval activity out of Tavoy threatened directly the Allied access to Rangoon, Burma.
