No enemy submarines sighted in Hawaiian area according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 21 January 1942

An item reported that there were no enemy submarines sighted in the Hawaiian area and it was thought that the missions of submarines formerly active on distant detached duties was changing. Apparently the units were part of the forces at Truk and the 2nd and 3rd Fleets active in the Philippines-Dutch East Indies Area.
