Ordered on 16 June 1933, awarded 3 August 1933, laid down by New York Shipbuilding Corporation, Camden, New Jersey, USA on 24 January 1935, launched on 2 October 1937, commissioned on 6 June 1938, decommissioned on 24 June 1946, stricken on 9 January 1951, sold to Chile on 9 January 1951, renamed Capitan Prat, renamed Chacabuco in 1982, decommissioned on 10 May 1982 and broken up in Taiwan in 1985.
